TAYLOR TOPPLES LACY – SEEKS MARQUIS SHOWDOWNS

***Former Undisputed Middleweight King Jermain Taylor Primed for World Titles at Super Middleweight & Light Heavyweight***

New York (November 18, 2008) – The outcome was never in doubt last Saturday evening on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, as former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor thoroughly dominated his Olympic teammate and ex-IBF 168 pound titlist Jeff Lacy over twelve rounds. The WBC super middleweight eliminator was seen as part of HBO’s World Championship Boxing and promoted by DiBella Entertainment in association with Golden Boy Promotions.

“The whole world saw Jermain Taylor reestablish himself Saturday night as one of boxing’s biggest stars and remind everyone why ‘Bad Intentions’ derailed Bernard Hopkins to become the undisputed middleweight champion of the world. Jermain is back in a big way and ready to become the next dominant American fighter at 168 to 175 pounds,” said DBE president Lou DiBella.

Now rated #2 in the world by the WBC, Taylor (28-2-1, 17 KOs) was simply too much for Lacy in every facet - from ring generalship to hand speed to infighting to power punching - the rejuvenated Taylor took every “All” out of “All Or Nothing.” In the end, the pride of Little Rock, Arkansas, and 2000 Olympic bronze medalist, won by scores of 118-110 and 119-109 twice.

“Considering everything else that’s happened in the ring over the last six weeks in Atlantic City and Madison Square Garden, it’s clear Jermain Taylor versus Joe Calzaghe is boxing’s next super bout. If Calzaghe wants to silence any lingering doubters once and for all as to his greatness, the final hurdle to clear is a showdown with Jermain Taylor!”

While Taylor has one superstar from across the pond in his sights, another DBE protégé will get his opportunity to take down the UK’s other top draw this Saturday evening in Las Vegas as Brooklyn’s Paulie Malignaggi, the former IBF 140 pound world champion, challenges Ricky Hatton for the IBO junior welterweight championship.

DiBella: “Ricky Hatton is a tremendous athlete and a credit to boxing, but this Saturday night will belong to Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi. Paulie has always been a fabulous talent, but now his ring experience and total focus on Hatton will lead him to spectacular victory, and with it, recognition as the next great fighter from New York City as well as become the newest member of boxing’s pound-for-pound top-top list.”

Jameson Bostic Pulls Off The Inevitable and Gets His Release From Promoter

By K. Walters

After what seemed an eternity of promised fights and boxing stardom from one of the most prominent of boxing figures, Jameson "JamieKang" Bostic can now set his own pace and dictate his boxing future from his point of view. After recieveing the #6 NABF ranking on his own, without the help of a promoter, as well as becoming newly ranked #30 by the WBC, Bostic decided to take matters in his own hands and do something about the situation, something most fighters won't do when it comes to promoters. So what's a fighter in Bostic's position to do, well it's simple, you clear your head, get your thoughts together and simply man up, and that's exactly what he did. Without lawyers or an advisor by his side, the Brooklyn native and newly Florida transplant walked in to see his promoter, sat down and stated his argument. A few hours later he walked out a free agent with a happy heart and a new boxing lease on life. But for a moment, let's go back to the beginning of the story to get a better understanding as to why Bostic made his move.  After Bostic was signed, he thought he will be able to fight and be moved.  He made his debut on the Sam Peter - Jameel McCline fight card which he fought an unbeaten opponent and won unanimously. With things starting out well, Bostic stayed in the gym in hopes of fighting on the Roy Jones jr -Felix Trinindad fight card, which in fact was promised to him, but somehow fell through.  Another promise of a fight was made with the hopes of fighting in Cancun on the yet another Sam Peter - Maskaev fight card, but by this time you should already know what happens next, and yes your right, the fight fell through yet again. "I begged to fight on the Cory Spinks - Verno Phillips card" states Bostic, but for whatever reason he was again denied, in return an offer was made to find and fight an opponent . But the pay was to be shared with both he and his opponent and had to cover not only Bostic's travel, hotel and food expenses, but those of his opponents as well. With much reserve about the situation but also a hunger to get back into the ring, Jameson accepted the offer below his minimum and took his fustration out on his opponent, beating him with no remorse. After the fight, the situation went back to it's previous state, big promises but no action.  This is were Bostic felt enough was enough, he'd dealt with the broken promises and the fustrating situation of bein inactive, so he did what he had to do. He took it upon himself to get a meeting with his promoter. Dates from August to November fell through, but in between time Bostic became active, going into productive camp with Librado Andrade. At this point he made his mind up to return home and ask for his release. Now fast forward to November 18, 2008, Jameson Bostic walked in and asked for his release, without any lawyer or advisor by his side, he sat down, stated his case. A few hours later he walked out a free man, a free agent and a fighter ready for anyone, anytime. "I'm' happy as hell" stated Bostic when asked about being free and in control of his boxing future. He plans to head back to the gym and get to business.  In a candid statement Bostic gave to HeavyHitter. org, he wants all to know this one thing, "All you guys that have gotten chin checked, I'm out of the cage, you know who you are.  If you guys really want it, ask your promoters and advisors to hit me up at www. myspace. com/jamie718 or heavyhitter. org.  I've been hearing that NYC prospects want to fight. Get the contract, you know were to find me, I've been in Bedstuy, you know who you are.  Bedstuy do or die!!!

Heavyweight Lenroy Thomas Dominates In Tampa.....

This past Friday night at the A La Carte Pavillion in Tampa, Fl,  heavyweight prospect Lenroy "TNT" Thomas put on a dominating performance against veteran Andrew Greely.  Despite being laid off for close to a year due to an over
active thyroid, Thomas dominated all six rounds winning by unanimous decision.  In recently speaking with Lenroy who I have adopted as my "big" lil brother, we took time to reflect on all that he had to endure physically as well as emotionally and spiritually.  On the fast track to boxing stardom, "Tommy", as I like to call him, had everything in place that would have positioned him to be a major fixture in the heavyweight division. But things took a turn for the worse, and fast. After loosing an astonishing amount of weight as well as changes in his hair and skin, Thomas knew something was wrong.

After several opinons and miss diagnosis, a chance encounter at his gym were he trains, changed his life and got him back on the rode to recovery.  It was there that a doctor who was also in the gym saw Lenroy and immediately recognized what was happening to the young fighter.  Shortly thereafter he was diagnosed with a hyper active thyroid and began radiation treatment.  Almost a year later, Tommy has completely recovered, reestablished his team and is now back in the heavyweight mix!  With TKO Boxing Promotions and Dan Birmingham in his corner, Lenroy Thomas is fighting full steam ahead and vows to make every moment count.  Stay posted as HeavyHitter.org will continue to follow his career.  You can also visit his website and get to know him first hand at www.lenroythomas.com.  Also check out www.tkoboxingpromotions.com

"El Gato" Figueroa Defeats "The Drunken Master"..

FIGUEROA DEFEATS AUGUSTUS Just get the win. That is the plan whenever facing veteran Emanuel Augustus. Junior welterweight contender Francisco "El Gato" Figueroa followed his handlers' instructions and came away with a win. Augustus has an awkward style of fighting that confuses many of his opponents. Figueroa had never faced anyone quite like Augustus, but he did not lose his composure and left the ring with a split-decision win. The fight was scored 77-75, 77-75 and 75-77. The Star-Ledger scored it 77-75 for Figueroa, who improved to 20-2-0. Augustus is now 37-30-6.
